1
Day 01: Drive to Zhangmu from Kathmandu. Zhangmu (2300m):
The drive from Kathmandu to Zhangmu takes about 5 to 6 hours (120km).
Also known as Khasa in Nepali and Dram in Tibetan, it is a remarkable town that hugs the rim of a seemingly never-ending succession of hairpin bends down to the customs area at the border of China and Nepal.
It is a typical border town, much larger than Nyalam, and has a restless, reckless feel to it.
This town compromises a fascinating mix of Han, Tibetan, and Nepalese, and the shops brim with goodies from China.

Day 02: Drive to Tingri.
Tingri (4390m): The drive from Zhangmu to Tingri takes about 7 hours (260km).
A huddle of Tibetan homes that overlook a sweeping plain bordered by the towering Himalaya range.
There is little in the way of sights around Tingri, though views of Everest and the muscular-looking massif of Cho Oyu more than compensate for this.
Ruins on the hill overlooking Tingri are all that remain of the Tingri Dzong.
This is a fort blown up by the Red Guards but rather destroyed in a late 18th century Nepalese invasion.

Day 03: Drive to Kharta.
Kharta: The drive from Tingri to Kharta takes about 3 to 5 hours (160km).
It is an old Tibetan village.
Overnight at camp.

Day 04: Full day at Leisure. ( organize Yaks for trek)

Day 05: Start trek Kharta to Langma la.
Langma la: 5030m : Start trek it takes about 6 hours walk from Kharta through
the knife-edge pass of Langma la.
Overnight camp.

Day 06: Trek Langma la to Kharta Cave.
Kharta Cave: Trek to Khata Cave take about 5-6 hours hike from Langma la
which is substantial cave beneath a huge boulder.
Overnight camp.

Day 07: Trek Kharta cave to Pethang
Petang: Trek to Pethang take about 4 hours hike from Kharta cave,
Pethang a grassy plain with tone huts for herders, take a walk through rhododendron scrub
along the way and wade across one stream.
Overnight camp.

Day 08: Trek Petahang to Pethang Ringmo.
Pethang Ringmo: Trek to Pethang Ringmo takes about 4-5 hours from Pethang,
Pethang Ringmo lies south of Lhotse. Here you will find the Yak herders use
stone huts constructed like Igloos in the summer.

Day 09: Full day rest at Pethang Ringmo
Overnight camp.

Day 10: Trek back from Pethang Ringmo to Pethang.
Overnight camp.

Day 11: Trek Pethang to Sharlung.
Sharlung: Trek from Pethang to Sharlung takes about 5-6 hours, which is situated,
next to an emerald lake. During summer, the astounding giant rhubarb (rheum
nobile) grows here on the hillside.
Overnight hotel.

Day 12: Trek Sharlung to Sharo.
Sharo: Trek from Sharlung to Sharo takes about 4-5 hours, at the base of Shala
on the left lies the Sharo cave.
Overnight camp.

Day 13: Trek Sharo to Yuelba.
Yuelba: Trek from Sharo to Yuelba takes about 6 hours. Overnight camp.

Day 14: Drive to Nyalam via Kharta.
Nyalam: Drive from Kharta to Nyalam takes about 9 hours (382 km). Overnight
guest house.
15
Day 15: Drive from Nyalam to Kathmandu.
